Lavender Blue

Where do I start

To tell you about my heart?

How do I begin

To say what's deep within?

I can say my heart's been broken

But those words have long been spoken.

I might say that it's stopped feeling

But I'm working on it's healing.

I can mention that I loved you

And my love was always true.

Did you notice I used past tense?

Does that make the present pretense?

Do you ever care how I might feel?

My heart wonders if yours was real.

Time was so short for us to follow

Now it's all just empty and hollow.

I still read the words from you

Beautiful words of lavender blue

But all I have to show for loving you

Are pieces of poetry and a pink tattoo.
