A Memory Of You

Today I had a memory.

A memory of days gone by.

Not just any memory

But one of you and I.

So I did something

That a friend would do.

Something that once was routine.

I made a call to you.

It's been such a long time

Since we parted ways.

I felt a need to touch base

And make sure you were OK.

It was so nice to hear your voice

Especially after all the exposure.

And just like the old days

I felt a calm composure.

I've stored this memory with the rest

Wrapped in a ribbon, placed on a shelf

In the empty place in my heart

One more good-bye, another closure

This time I felt at peace with myself.
